Turning Jerusalem into a city of "Gold" and everlasting "Peace"
"Jerusalem is Mount Rushmore: an idea for peace between
the three Abrahamic Faiths and economic
prosperity for Israelis and Palestinians."
The three Abrahamic Faiths, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, share fundamental beliefs of faith, love, and honor to their ONE and SAME God. Sadly however, due to their lack of understanding God's will, as if by divine fate, these three cousin religions have fought each other as archenemies for eras without any resolve. Perhaps the time has come, as God had promised, for a Messiah to reveal God's new truth, one that would unveil the dark past, and guide the three Abrahamic religions and the whole world to an everlasting peace. The good news is that the Messiah has come! However, there is a prerequisite on the part of the three faiths:to accept God's new truth, delivered by His anointed Messiah, the Reverend Sun Myung Moon. Understanding His truth, not only very crucial to ending their long painful suffering but to world peace in general.
The vision: "Jerusalem, a Mount Rushmore" for the three Abrahamic Faiths, came to me during the days I was writing chapter 15 in my autobiographical book,Honor Thy God (page 215)
The Vision
If the Spiritual leaders of these three monotheistic faiths, (the Koran called them "People of the Books") could realize their calling, Jerusalem could become the "Mount Rushmore" of the three Abrahamic Faiths. Just like America honors its Founding Fathers, the three Abrahamic religions, have built symbols of their faiths like Islam's Dome of the Rock and Christians Church of the Holy Sepulchre. But what is needed is a Holy Temple or Shrine for the Jewish Faith. In addition to the Temple, Mount Moriah and all historic Jewish Holy places should be developed as the world's largest Holy pilgrimage site, resembling Mecca in scale.
Mount Rushmore: an Economic Reason
If we look into what inspired the great South Dakota state historian and politician Don Robertson to come up with the Mount Rushmore idea in 1923, it for economic reason! He wasn't thinking of presidents, national history and so forth. He was only concerned about the economic condition of his State. He wanted to attract "Tourism" to South Dakota. He knew that tourism would be a big part of South Dakota's economy. Mr. Robertson originally thought of carving famous Western historic figures, people like Buffalo Bill, Lewis and Clark,or Chief Red Cloud. But later, it dawned on him that he should carve a Monument of a National focus that will attract people from the rest of the nation and all around the world.
Jerusalem's Economic Prosperity
Over two third of the world's population belong to the three Abrahamic Religions, the majority being Christians Christians and Muslims. We are talking about at least four Billion people! Imagine how many people would want to pay a visit to the Holy Land at least once in their life time. Imagine how much money would pour into that country! There would be enough money to build a mansion for every Israeli and every Palestinian and enough money to end world hunger!!! Look at Mecca for instance: out of two the two billion Muslims in the world, over two million visit, for "Hadj" to this Muslim Holy place every year! Keep in mind, Hadj could only be done once a year on a specific month. Imagine, keeping Jerusalem peacefully open all year long. Billions of tourists would pour into this Great Holy Land.!!
Temple for the Jews
How about a Temple for Judaism? Though in my opinion, the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple is not a necessary condition for the Advent of the Messiah or for the Second Coming of Christ, as Christians understood it. The returning Christ, and the Jewish Messiah are more or less the same thing. However, as I noted, much to their surprise, the Messiah had already come to a different people on a different continent, to an Asian country, Korea! And the building of the Temple is not necessary, because, just as in John 2:9, Jesus referred to himself as a Temple, when he said "destroy this Temple and in three days I will raise it up", In this Bible verse , Jesus was speaking of his imminent death and his resurrection three days after his death. in this sense, the Messiah is the Temple Himself! Perhaps, this is a lesson for fundamental Christians and Jews that the rebuilding of the Temple is not needed. This was also the reason why neither the State of Israel nor the Jewish religious leaders have thought of rebuilding the Temple, since they discontinued Temple ritual after the destruction of their Temple 2000 years ago. But for the sake of, Israel should build a Temple to acomodate Judaism.
Where the Temple should be built?
There is plenty of land upon which to build the Temple. Good peaceful and devout religious people of the three Abrahamic Faiths should be extremely careful of far extremist movements that are calling for DOOMS DAY! Jewish and Christian extremist movements have a strange and dangerous idea about where the Temple should be built, they are calling for Muslim's Dome of the Rock to be removed by force, so that the Temple could be built on this site ! This dangerous idea could surely lead to the most catastrophic war the world has ever seen! I have an idea where the Temple should be built...It could be built on the cemetery ground on the west side adjacent to the Waling Wall!! The entire area could be come a national cenotaph.
People would perhaps think, I am being an idealist or sacrilegious, but if God is the God as portrayed by all three religions, a God of LOVE and PEACE, God Himself would possibly be enthralled by this idea! As God expressed in II Chronicles 7:14;
"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

Hi Ali,
ReplyDeleteInteresting idea but
1. I thought Moslems don't like images of people.
2. In America, all Americans have the same founding fathers and great presidents as their shared heritage. This is not the same situation in Jerusalem... Christians don't honor Mohammed and Jews don't honor Jesus and Mohammed.
Hi! Michael, thank you for your comment! Yes you are right, Muslims don't like images of people, but there is a lot of symbolic images in Islam! There is no mosque that doesn't have the Crescent Moon on top of it. there is also calligraphic written symbols of the names of Allah and Prophet Mohammed, you only need to google Islam and all the symbols will pop up. the same thing goes for the Jewish religion. If they have these symbols in writing, why not a monument! About honoring each others prophets, this has been a problem. But they humble themselves before their God,nothing is impossible!
